Texas TBF Federation Junior Anglers Our next youth event will be in 2009 Texas youth will be joining a strong foundation as there are approximately 100 junior clubs across the country representing approximately 1200 youth. Each year the TBF, Inc. and the National Guard join together to host a tournament for the qualified youth. This tournament will be held along side the FLW Cup and is the National Guard Junior Anglers World Championship. The junior anglers are required to be members of the National TBF, Inc. Dues are $5.00 per year. Also, they must be members of the Texas TBF Junior Federation. Dues are $15.00 per year. Junior anglers do not have to be a member of FLW Outdoors. Texas has a state wide club for junior anglers to join. This club will be under the direction of the state youth director and is for any youth that are ready to compete in the 11 - 14 age division and/or the 15 - 18 age division. Contact our state youth director here for more information. Qualifying Information The Texas TBF Federation will be sending two of our youth on to the NGJAWC. These two youth will be the winners of their respective age divisions. This tournament will be a half day event, safe light until noon. Each junior angler will be paired with another junior angler and a boat captain. The boat captain(adult) will be responsible for all safety issues and control the operation of the outboard motor. Each junior angler will be given equal time in front of the boat and control of the trolling motor and the water fished. Boat captain will be allowed to net fish. No other help is allowed. No boat captain will be allowed to operate the boat of their own child/children. This is one fantastic opportunity for the youth in our state! The two qualifiers will receive financial and other help from the Texas TBF Federation, the national TBF, Inc. and its sponsors. Not to mention that they will be a part of the FLW Cup week and be able to fish along side some of the touring pros in our sport!
